The 12th Sino-Indian meeting on the boundary issue was held in Beijing from September 18 to 19. Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo, as special representative of China, and Indian National Security Advisor M. K. Narayanan, as special representative of India, exchanged in-depth views on the framework to solve the border issue between the two countries in a pragmatic, candid and friendly atmosphere. They agreed that both countries would carry out the guidelines of their leaders, maintain the momentum of negotiations based on the political guiding principle and seek a fair and reasonable solution acceptable to both sides.

Both sides agreed that the next round of meeting between the special representatives of the two countries will take place in India.
