International Dignitaries Arrive in Beijing for the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympics

At about 4 p.m., September 6, 2008, German President Horst Koehler arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport by special plane. During his stay in Beijing, he will attend the opening ceremony of the Paralympics and other relevant activities.

Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo, on behalf of the Chinese government, awaited the arrival of President Horst Koehler at the airport and extended him a warm welcome.

The heads of state and heads of government arrived on September 6 for the opening ceremony of the Beijing Paralympics included Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad and Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Han Seung-so.

It was reported that around 50 international dignitaries including their spouses have arrived in Beijing for the opening ceremony of the Paralympics and other relevant activities.
