Algerian President Congratulates on the 59th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China

On October 1, 2008, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Hu Jintao on the 59th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. “On the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, I wish to extend, on behalf of the Algerian government and people and in my own name, warm congratulations to Your Excellency Mr. President and friendly Chinese people,” Bouteflika said in the message. He also wished President Hu Jintao good health and the Chinese nation progress and prosperity. Bouteflika emphasized that Algeria appreciates the traditional friendship between the two countries, expressing satisfaction with the development of bilateral strategic cooperative relations. He also highly praised his fruitful meetings with Chinese leaders on the sidelines of the Beijing Olympic Games. The Algerian president reaffirmed his congratulations on China’s successful hosting of the Beijing Olympics. He said the splendid opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics is still vivid in his memory, holding that the ceremony has promoted the cultural heritage of Chinese civilization that dates back to thousands of years ago and fully demonstrated creativity and innovative spirit of Chinese people.

On October 1, the Presidential Palace of Algeria presented a basket of flowers to the Chinese Embassy in Algeria.
