Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Cai Jinbiao Held a Reception for the Fiji Olympic Team

On July 15, 2008, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Cai Jinbiao and Mrs. Cai held a reception for the Fiji Olympic Team at their residence. Mr. Vidhya Lakhan, President of Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee and more than twenty members of the Team Fiji were present.

Amb. Cai briefed the guests of the preparation work of Beijing Olympics and introduced the Olympic facilities. He said it is a century-old expectation for all the Chinese people to hold Olympic Games in China. After seven-year's hard work, China now is totally ready for the 29th Olympic Games. China is ready to embrace athletes and friends from all over the world including Fiji. We believe that, with the collective efforts of Chinese people and the international community and with the adoption of the concept of Green Olympics, High-tech Olympics and People's Olympics, Beijing Olympic Games will be a big success. Amb. Cai also wished Team Fiji good luck in the competition.

In their remarks, Mr. Lakhan, Chef de Mission Mr. Patrick Bower and the representative of Fiji athletes all praised China's efforts in the preparation for the Olympics. They said that Beijing Olympics will not only provide Team Fiji with a great opportunity to compete with the outstanding athletes from other countries, but further strengthen the friendship between Fiji and China and their peoples. They expressed their confidence that Beijing Olympics will be a great success.
